I am pretty much flat out addicted to colouring flowers.

Back in 2005, I had an addiction to hi fives. I just wanted to slam my palm against another with a smile. I would be walking down the street, and just ask strangers to give me a

hi five. I needed the hit, and people just ignored me. Since then, Ive had had various short lived addictions.. but nothing quite as serious as this.

For my latest project, I decided to make a custom colour flower bomb.

Whats that? No spray painting insides?

I pick Mylee up from the meeting spot. Ive got a coffee for her, its 530 in the morning. Things are good. We take the 45 minute drive to the flower market. Things are still good.

We get out of the car and takes one look at me. She notices.

Quickly she decides that if one us isn't getting changed, then a bare minimum of five paces of space must be kept between the 2 of us.

I love hydrangeas, I love them so much. I would have to say, out of all the flowers that people grow in their garden, hydrangeas are really right up there. The best even. And you know what makes me mad? The fact that I have to buy them. I drive home from work and I see hundreds of their little mophead faces, and they all yell out to me,

COME AND STEAL US. But I don't, because I would be devastated if somebody did that to me. I don't grow them, so I have to buy them. Sad fact of life.

While I was holidaisy'ing in intertropical melbourne, I was educated on a very tricky trick

Are your cut hydrangeas starting to look a little wilty?

Fill a vase with hot water from the tap, SNIP the stems and pop them into the jacuzzi

(by jacuzzi, i mean vase)

Go on do it.. and leave them there. As the water cools to room temp you will notice the flowers looking all schnappy and happy to be alive. Just like you do after a nice hot bath.

One time, a miracle happened. A nice guy named chongy was born. He grew up and started getting awesome at lots of things, and then some time later, a few years ago we started working together. I didnt know what his deal was, but I decided to make it my goal in life to make him feel uncomfortable. I flipped the keys up on his keyboard and moved them around, I stuck pins in his chair so they would stab him through the pants.

I did all sorts of things.

You see, when new people come along, I dont like it. Not one bit.

Somehow, chongy managed to get through the barrier. I have a real soft spot for people who love things that I dont mind. ANYWAY

Years on, in a bid to take on the world, and just a small part of Narrabeen, chongy devised a plan.

Name of the plan: THE SUGARMILL FINE SURF EMPORIUM.

Annnnd what does every fine surf emporium need? A FLOWER DRUM POP UP SHOP!

Surfboards, tick! Swimsuit, tick! Coffee & milkshakes, tick! Vintage Dresses, tick! Art, tick! Fresh Flowers, tick!

Today I have reached new realms of toxicity.

After a dash to the flower markets with mylee and little hobo tatianna (who incidentally secretly speaks italian and captured the tickers of every flower flinger out there) I came home to get bizzy on some mexicano daisy of the dead style arrangements. Armed and ready on my unfenced balcony I sprayed up some real doozies. whaddaya mean?

My friends at Koch & co have this nifty flower spray paint. whaddaya mean???

THIS IS WHAT I MEAN.

So I'm hanging out with creedence clear water revival and mazzy star, and im spraying away in a frenzy of delight, making once was pink- now black and white. Later, im in the chair at the salon bleaching my hair within an inch of its already fragile life.

Then back home to spray my heart away once more on some more roses I dont like the colour of. (remember here friends, design master spray only changes the colour of flowers, it doesn't turn gerberas into peonies, ok?)

Right now im writing to you, after about.. I don't know, one hundred coffees. The bleach has seeped into my skin and maybe I should have been wearing a mask while spray painting as to prevent me from thinking it might be a good idea to rip the neighbours christmas lights down to decorate my own lounge room. On lighter news, theres a cactus in my kitchen that squirts me with cacti juice every time I try to move it.

The other day, I started making this thing. It was looking really cool. And then I thought, what am I going to do with this cool looking thing? It's sort of getting dark now.. And I have no use for a jungle archway. So I started to make this other cool thing.. a delicious drink.

I feel a bit sad that I never finished the cool thing, its just lurking around now, sort of dead and kind of beautiful.

I'm no ikebana expert, but im pretty sure gerberas weren't used back when ikebana started being the hip happening thing, some 500 years ago. You could only imagine my face after I unwrapped my surprise newspaper covered flowers.

Gerbs, hydrangea leaves and some other green ferny things.

"WHAT AM I MEANT TO DO WITH THESE, apart from throw them in the bin?"

I know just like new born babies, all flowers are beautiful blah blah.blah. BUT when it comes to gerberas, im not interested.

Luckily, we were learning some really cool stuff and having a real hoot, one of the guys in our class was a skin specialist, so we were getting dermatology advice while turning and placing things on 30/45 degree angles.

Secret SECRET flower tea house

My trip to japan was fun. I walked a lot. I walked so much that I could have walked around the earths belt. Twice. While I was walking, I saw some of the most beautiful little flower shops, and one time, when I kept walking though a flower shop, I ended up inside an outside turned inside flower shoppe tea house. Nearly everything on the menu was in Japanese, except for what I ordered. I ordered a lemon tart, because it was the only thing not written in Japanese.

Walking through into secret parts of shops is not uncommon in Tokyo. Another great place to stumble upon is the Forbidden Fruit cafe. After polishing off some wild berry ice cream, pretend you've dropped something really important and collapse to your knees looking for it. When no one is looking, scurry behind the counter and regain your composure as you speed walk down the spiral stairs into the top secret avant-gothic bunker complete with dinosaur size terrarium.

In the past, holly and I wouldn't go near a fake flower, let alone stomach touching one. The thought of a fake arrangement in a vase would actually force our faces into the expression you do after a shot of whisky. Recently, as you probably know we've become more open minded towards them. The flower drum was recently commissioned to create extravagant faux flower bombs to Razzy Dazz the windows of Alannah Hill. Holly instantly felt honoured yet shocked to the core, How was she going to make friends with such synthetic profanities? Although much blood sweat and RSI tears were suffered, the finished product in the glossy windows of Alannah Hill is more than impressive, especially since she created 50 billion bombs virtually on her own! If asked, would she like to see another ever lasting flower again she'd probably Scream NO WAY MAN! Although, I have a sneaky suspicion she's formed some kind of bond while spending a ridiculous amount of time alone with them. While she was breaking the fake flower bomb making record I was in the USA having my own experiences with fakies. It seems fake breasts and tans aren't the only thing that's popular around here. Iv'e spotted numerous shops dedicated to ridiculously real looking ''lasting art". Shop keepers are even taking it as far as spritsing 'floral' perfume everywhere to give the illusion you're in a genuine florist. So before you go getting dazzled by my photo's and order a faux bouquet for your 'big day' remember to ENJOY FAKE FLOWERS RESPONSIBLY. Don't go wearing a fake flower headband just because Katy Perry did or one of those trendy silk flower necklaces. If you want my advice, take advantage of the times we're living in. The real thing is abundant NOW and it doesn't have to cost $3 a stem. Owning your own piece of delightful scented nature could be as easy as planting some seeds, or discovering your local market, or even more exciting, putting on a balaclava and taking some scissors for a walk around your neighbourhood.

I went over there to take on a portion of the not so secret garden, and suddenly realised my small arm full of herbs was not going to cut it in the jungle. This is a proper proper project.

Maybe ten or more years ago, I went to Melbourne for the weekend. My dad was doing a big aeroplane conference and I was free to roam the streets until dark. Within about 2 hours of being there I had discovered complete happiness in the form of a shop- Alannah Hill.

It was kind of like a florist, but instead of flowers they sold clothes, and instead of buckets of water holding flowers it was hundreds of bazillions of sparkly pretty things looking at me. I looked at every single thing in the shop. Every skirt, every head piece, every bracelet and bralette. I pretty much could have counted how many threads there were in the carpet. I spent a very long time in there. And all this time later, whenever I set foot into any of Alannah Hills stores, I still feel a crazy rush of toe tapping joy.

Where am I going with this? WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS?

Flower Drum lovers, I AM OK. I am sorry I have been missing in action and only reporting to you briefly. I have been working on a project for a very special and inspiring someone... AND THATS ALL I CAN SAY! I have certainly bitten off more roses than you can poke a thorny stem at.. working around the clock to make sure the job gets done good and proper! Flower Drum HQ has literally been taken over 100 % with floor to the ceiling boxes, and filled with enough flower bombs to kill a school of skunks. Glass vases are kind of driving me crazy right now. Spirally stemmy stems exposing themselves in a glass watering holes for the whole world to see. When I looked at my vase holding a beautiful armful of lilies it sort of reminded me of lots of giant cranky grass hoppers with their arms crossed in a clear quarantine -Except a bit more beautiful.

The pressure was on, oh my god we have ten minutes left! Oh my god, its just like we are in master chef . Death defying ladder balancing maneuvers just like on the show who dares wins. It literally was the amazing race. Ha! Get it?

Today i found the best spot in bali to buy flowers....the place is so rad, you would actually want to move in there. (ill go in there another day and take heaps of photos of it for you) i got really excited cause my house has been so empty as i haven't been able to afford furniture, but my friend lent me a table this week, so for the first time since being here, i had an actual surface to put a vase with flowers on!

these flowers are so cool they look like they have been carved from wax!

they made me so happy i had to dress up and take photos to show you.

then i had a red bull and my excitement turned to complete flower drum enthusiasm!!!!

these photos (of me) are in my bali garden (which is so fucking fantastic... you would just want to merge right into it). The shot of me with a bun is because I got so flustered from happiness I had to get my hair off my neck, then i picked up the dropped frangipani's from the floor and stuck them in my head. Usually the old 'frang in hair' in Bali is teamed back with braids and a bintang singlet, but because these were from my own special garden (and because I'm not badly sunburnt with a bintang in my hand) i actually was keen on wearing them... this is my love post dedication to how much I effing miss you two tulip heads..and to show you how much you need to come and visit me as field research for your flower filled brain. the only caffeine re-fueler between my house and the market that is open when even dawn isnt up, is right by my place. mylee and i meet there before the markets. one particular morning, we were on the way out to market, all hopped up croissants, spinach and feta rolls and scones and coffee (its a long drive ok?!) and discussing in great detail our affection for freesias. You see, when they force grow freesias they dont like it. They trick you because - they look like freesias, they sound like freesias, but they dont smell like freesias. they smell like nothing!

Mylee came to the conclusion that the reason you buy freesias is because you want them to "perforate" your home. I looked at her and said yeah you want the flowers to fill your house with heaps of tiny holes? case number 2 of the snoozebrain strikes.

I was on the phone to my dad today and he said. Im just sitting in the garden and there is a duck hurtling towards me and i think its going to nip me on the leg. And I said, what garden? and he said THE garden, your garden. Confused, I thought, MY garden? So i said "what?" And he said I'm in your great great grandfathers garden, which is also your garden. Something in my brain tingled, I felt I knew what he was talking about but I didn't know any of the W's (who, what, where, why)

My great great grandfather George Francis (who is so old that they only have paintings of him on the interweb, no photos) was the first director of the Adelaide Botanical gardens. After my dad explained that to me, I felt annoyed because I actually knew about this the whole time and I just forgot.

He also was the editor of the journal "Science and Art" which I believe is to be the 18th century form of blogging. So we are samies. I will award him with this months FAFA award. And as he can not make it today, due to the fact that he died in 1865, I will accept the award on his behalf.

some days the flower markets are bizzier than a strip bar in kings cross at 4 am on a saturday morning. sometimes i think the flower market shoppers are still drunk, slippin around on slippery surfaces and yelling out CRAZY DAISY. I bet the growers think im still drunk when I go, Im usually dressed in something rediculous (ie leopard print jeans, stripe jumper and polka dot socks with sandals) and my hair is standing up on end like ive been electrocuted by an underwater electric fence. but they always smile and seem happy to see me. I think its because I brush my teeth before I leave for the market, I have become aware that a lot of people do not. however, I don't think i'd talk to me...I think I look about as fresh as a dead daisy that early in the morning

most of my friends can play an instrument. and they are pretty darn good at it. I used to buy flowers for my girl from the local servo. When I bought them I’d be all like “Oh man, my girl is gonna be so thrilled I stopped to buy her flowers.” I thought the little sticker on the plastic wrapping that said “Say it with flowers” added a touch of class to the whole deal too. I didn’t even bother trying to peel it off. But when I gave her the flowers I kinda got the feeling she wasn’t all that thrilled at all. I kinda got the feeling she thought I was shit. Dear Lionel,

1. Service Station flowers are nearly always dead when you buy them.

2. Dead flowers don't make anybody happy. They make people mad.

3. That sticker that says " Say it with flowers" actually means "I like, you, but not that much"

If you want to buy your girl flowers in future I suggest flying something in from the South American rain forest. Then buying flowers will definitely not suck. Or you can buy them from me, that would definitely definitely not suck.

Riley Blakeway used to live on my couch. I actually moved out of the house, just so that he could have his own bedroom. It takes five people to tell him what to wear and another 4 to tell him what to eat. EVERY DAY. He doesnt know how to do his washing and he is an absolute peanut on the sauce. It wasnt one of those lucky moments where I managed to capture the shot the first go.

No. I went through half a god damn packet of balloons!

And not just that. Every single time i popped the balloon, I got a fright. which then meant I wasnt concentrating on taking the photo, i was concentrating on going AHHHHHHH!!!!

WHAT? WHO ME?

This guy swindled me out of a two dollar purchase! someone call the petal police!

You see, i payed my two dollars, and as i went to pick up my flowers out of the bucket, my eyes were drawn to the plastic tub full of green stuff.

"Hey man, whats in the tub?" "Methi" he replied.

Like i was supposed to know what that was.

He told me about the miracles of methi and instantly i wanted to hand over every dollar in my front and back pockets, my bank details, credit cards and my car keys in exchange for just a single bunch. SIGN ME UP i screamed.

After I paid for it, he told me that my skin would end up smelling a bit weird if i ate it.

And as I was driving home, i realised he totally scallywaged me out of my initial purchase.

Lola loves roses! look at her whiffa sniffing away.

They are columbian roses to be specific.

Did you know that they are actually FROM columbia?

AND did you know, that in the time it takes you to make and shake and bake a cake, these roses are cut and on the plane on the way to australia. Yep, within two hours the roses are cut and packed and sitting with their boarding passes in first class.

Speaking of party animals, i realised yesterday that the flower markets are not unlike the discoteque. Dudes all about the place smashing ciggies, drinking beers, singing out of tune...and being ever so charming.

Holly from the flower drum never says anyone’s name in real life. Never. Doesn’t matter if you’ve been friends with her for a day or a year. She doesn’t say “Hello Killer” or “Hello Annie and Jonathan” or “Hello Phil from Grinspoon”. I don’t think she even says “Hello Mum”. She just says “Hello.” And because she’s awesome she gets away with it. If I don’t say someone’s name I instantly feel like they think I don’t know their name. And when that happens I know I’ll be moving in for a really awkward hug or really shitty handshake because they’re not thinking about hugging and shaking, they’re thinking about whether I know their name or not, and I’m thinking about them thinking about THAT. Homeboy.

Shield your eyes if you are sensitive to bad language and magnificent awesomeness.

I was invited to create an installation to sit along side other razzy dazzy sculptures by

simone decker, george gorrow & stevie gorrow knitta please, rad dan, fraser the amazer and madsaki for the "untitled" launch. Everyone was at the party.
Me, mylee & the mopheads, dion & anna, mike jennings & erin wasson. you know, the usual.

The best part of the night was when 2 members of my fan club came up to me to announce their love of the flower drum. The second best part was when i sat next to stevie g, i love him. The third best part was dans hair cut booth.

I got totally snaparazzi'd while peddling my wheels of steel on saturday. I was off on a flower delivery to gift my all time favourite neighbours - marcie, gina & lily... It was a

"Im moving house today and i love you guys very much" arrangement..Turns out, they werent even home... bah humbug! So i just stuck the'flowers in their front gate and crossed my fingers that some hansome harry or lonesome larry wouldn't steal them.

Í should have been packing boxes instead of doing wheelies on my bike, but you know me... I like to do 50 things at once. Later on I ate a hamburger while vacuuming and devising a pyramid scheme. multi tasking at its finest.

This here rose reminds me of when I was a kid. Not because one sniff of the flower time travels me back to the age of three where I was carelessly running through a field of roses. No. Simply because when i was a kid, my ears stuck out like 2 stray petals on a rose.

My ears, they didn't subtly poke out from behind my hair, these things could pick up satellite tv.

Mum and dad decided it was best to get my wingnuts pinned back before we moved to hong kong, they must have known game boys were about to be all the rage, and no one would want to be friends with me because satellite tv wasn't cool no more.

Well, I had the pleasure of meeting and gifting rosie rose with her jackpot handful of posey roses. After about an hour of non stop chatting, some how she told me that she found a rat in her draw, and it had such good manners that she decided it must have been someones pet. So as you do, she put up flyers all about town so that missing rattus could be returned to his home, whilst sticky taping the poster she saw good ol "one eye"the neighbourhood cat. She yelled out, "hey one eye, you hungry?" MEOW. (That means yes)

She took one eye home, popped him infront of rattus, and they just stared at each other. She basically had to tell one eye that rattus was lunch. With a quick swipe one eye whisked rattus out the door. I'm assuming one eye knew where rattus lived?

Now before you think, wow, that was weird. We talked about extra normal stuff too. Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike
